How many uses can I expect from my Mikro-Tip® Uro-Catheter?

Millar Uro-Catheters can be used many times and are not limited to a specific number of uses. The number of uses is contingent upon proper handling and cleaning of your catheter (detailed instructions are provided with your catheter). Please remember these catheters are precision medical instruments, not merely plastic tubing.

Are Mikro-Tip Uro-Catheters cost effective?

Yes. When you consider the additional set-up time required for fluid-filled catheter systems and the on-going cost for disposable pressure transducers, stopcocks, pressure tubing, catheters, etc., per pressure channel and per patient procedure, Millar Mikro-Tip Uro-Catheters are extremely cost effective.

How do I clean Mikro-Tip Uro-Catheters?

Uro-Catheters should be cleaned immediately after each patient procedure to prevent development of deposits or film on the pressure sensor. Deposits or film on the sensor may cause the pressure sensor to drift and require extended soaking in order to soften and thoroughly remove them. If you are unable to clean the catheter immediately after use, it is vital to flush the lumen and soak the catheter in water until you are ready to fully clean the catheter. You should clean the catheter with a Millar approved cleaner, being certain to gently wipe the pressure sensor clean with equivalent of a soft gauze pad or Q-tip. Dirt buildup on the sensor is the most common problem, causing drift and possible need for future refurbishing.

Can I disinfect or sterilize Mikro-Tip Uro-Catheters?

Yes. For high level disinfection, Millar recommends Cidex 14-day solution. The only method of sterilization recommended by Millar is use of Ethylene Oxide (ETO) gas.

Do you provide Uro-Catheters with a Coudé tip? Filling Lumen?

Yes. Millar offers a full line of Uro-catheters with one or two pressure sensors, with or without lumen, and with straight or curved (Coudé) tip.

Will Mikro-Tip Uro-Catheters work with my urodynamic system?

Yes. The Millar Uro-Catheters will work with virtually all electronic urodynamic systems. They are not compatible with fiber optic systems. Millar offers a wide selection of the interface cables that are necessary for each pressure channel of your system. If the cable you need is not a standard selection, we will gladly build a cable to suit your system. In order for us to build a cable, you must provide the system brand name, model, connector type and connector pin-outs.

What is the warranty on Mikro-Tip Uro-Catheters?

Millar Mikro-Tip Uro-Catheters are warranted for ninety days against defects in materials or workmanship from the date of shipment to the original purchaser.

Can the Mikro-Tip Uro-Catheters be repaired?

Yes. In most cases Uro-Catheters can be repaired. To return your catheter for repair, please follow the instructions given in our Repairs Policy.
